This policy explains what Flashcards.ai collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers both the website at flashcards.ai and the Flashcards.ai app for iPhone.
Flashcards.ai is operated by Infinite Wave Media, LLC. If you have a question about anything here, email help@flashcards.ai.
What we collect
Your account details. When you sign up we store your email address and an account identifier. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address from them — if you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us, which is fine.
What you put in your decks. Deck titles, descriptions, tags, and the text on your cards. If you add images to cards, we store those too.
What you send to AI generation. The topic or notes you type, and any documents or photos you attach when asking us to generate a deck.
Basic technical information. Standard server logs — IP address, browser or device type, and the time of a request. We use these to keep the service running and to spot abuse.
That's the lot. We don't use analytics or advertising tools, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't build a profile of you.
Why we collect it
To run the service, and for nothing else:
- To sign you in and keep your decks attached to your account
- To sync your decks between the web and your phone
- To generate flashcards when you ask us to
- To respond when you contact us or report something
- To keep the service secure and working
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of providers to run the service. They only handle your data to provide those services to us:
- Google (Firebase) — sign-in and image storage
- Apple — if you use Sign in with Apple
- OpenAI — generates flashcards from what you send
- DigitalOcean — runs our servers
Worth being clear about the AI part: when you ask us to generate a deck, the topic, notes, or document you provide is sent to our AI provider to produce the cards. Don't paste anything you wouldn't want processed by a third party.
Decks you make public
If you publish a deck to the Library, that deck — its title, description, tags, cards, and a shortened form of your name — becomes visible to anyone, including people without an account. Publishing is always your choice, and you can unlist a deck at any time.
If you report a deck, we keep a record of the report so we can act on it.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your decks for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account at any time — in the iPhone app it's under Profile, and on the web it's in your account settings. Deleting your account permanently removes your decks, cards, study progress, and uploaded images. This can't be undone. Anything you published to the Library goes too.
Some information may remain in backups and server logs for a short period afterwards before being overwritten.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to certain processing, or to receive a copy of your data in a portable form. Email help@flashcards.ai and we'll help.
Children
Flashcards.ai isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll remove it.
Cookies
The website uses cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The iPhone app doesn't use cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and we'll tell you in the app or by email if the change is significant.
